My Asshole Opinion of the Day (Hang the DJ Edition)

Facebook. I love it for many reasons. It is a great way to share pictures and information with friends and family. It is also a great way to keep in contact with people that I want to stay in contact with but don't necessarily feel like putting forth the effort to actually SEE them or have an actual conversation on the telephone with them. I am pretty sure you know what I mean.
Facebook also has its drawbacks. Namely a few annoying stereotypes that make up everyone's friend list.  Hey, I shouldn't judge or bitch because I know I am totally guilty of wandering into annoying Facebook stereotype country from time to time. However, since this is my blog and I feel like sharing, today's Asshole Opinion of the Day is brought to you by The Facebook Friends Who Truly Believe it is Their Duty to Post Music for Your Enjoyment (otherwise known as the DJ).
Come on! Most of us have posted music from time to time. Who knows why, maybe to show off how cool we are or share the mood we were in at that moment. That is fine. It becomes annoying when my wall is clogged up with post after post of crap that I don't feel like listening to. If I wanted to hear it, I would break out the ipod. Period.
When I see that one of my DJ friends has punched into work for the night and the music starts flowing, I often wonder if there are really any people out there on Facebook sitting in anticipation of that next song. I won't defriend a DJ but I will put them in a timeout and hide their feed. It is a vicious cycle because every now and then I go through and unhide all the feeds, forgetting why those people annoyed me in the first place. Then, on nights much like tonight, I am reminded. sigh....

Yoga

I've always wanted to be the kind of person who gets up bright and early, grabs a yoga mat and spends time focusing on mind, body, and spirit. That has always sounded  nice but frankly like way too much work. Up until yesterday, the only pose I knew how to do was the "Read on Couch"... in fact, after many years of experience, I am quite the expert.
Beneficial in strengthening the mind, also good for stimulating the laziness chakra.

Yesterday I decided to google yoga and check it out with an open mind. I found some great beginner's poses and even ordered a DVD for out of shape total beginners. I've made the decision to give it a chance and follow through daily to see and feel some results. I am pretty excited about it! I guess it is never too late to try somthing new or take a step out of a box that I've put myself in by saying that I am not "this" or "that" kind of person.

My Asshole Opinion of the Day March 19th 2011

I feel bad, I really do. I should not rag on a mentally ill teenager who was murdered 30 years ago. I probably should not rag on Sid either although I cannot think of any reasons why not.  I can't help it though, my Asshole Opinion of the Day is about Sid and Nancy. Why in the hell are these two considered iconic? Why is their "love story" considered even remotely romantic or interesting? I realize that I am being a hypocrite because I am interested enoguh to spend a few minutes of my Saturday writing about them. Pretty much all I have to say is summed up in two points:
1. I think it is an insult to all musicians everywhere that the Sex Pistols are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
2. Take a bath.... JESUS
Exibit A- Needs a bath
Every picture I see of these two I want to don some gloves, grab my MR. Clean and jump into the picture..spray Sid and yell at Nancy "Take a shower girl!." Then I want to clean whatever sweaty sticky room they are sitting in and open a flipping window.
My point is they were not some sort of punk rock Romeo and Juliet. Romeo did not stab Juliet in the stomach with a hunting knife and then OD on heroin. They were just sad and very young. Self destruction is not cool. Being an asshole is not cool (unless it is me with my asshole opinion of the day, then it is VERY cool haha).  Perhaps I am old but I think instead of Sid and Nancy, we should remember what real cool is...

I love this

I was reading Amanda Hocking's (she writes the My Blood Approves series) blog and clicked on a link to an amazing artist. His name is Lawrence Yang. I want to buy this print! http://www.suckatlife.com/

St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is here and I was going to write about the truth behind the mythology of this day. I was thinking about how St. Patrick was not even Irish and how he was not the first to bring Christianity to Ireland and how driving the snakes out of Ireland is probably a metaphor for destroying their indigenous culture (the snakes being a representation of their old religion and all). But then I realized that it does not really matter who St. Patrick was, it matters who he has become now; a great excuse to wear green, drink beer, and celebrate Ireland. Happy St. Patrick's Day everybody! If you are still interested in reading about the real history of St. Patrick and the holiday, links are below.

My Asshole Opinion of the Day! March 16th 2011

I have not written anything in my blog lately and have decided to start a new feature called "My Asshole Opinion of the Day." This idea came to me recently when I was thinking of some random ass "Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy meets random crap" I wanted to post on Facebook but did not have the balls to actually do it. I realized that my little blog is the perfect place for posting this stuff. So here goes...
I don't get the big deal about natural remedies for illness and homeopathic medicine. I'm sorry but if I catch a GI virus that makes me puke for three days straight (for example) I am really not that interested in brewing some ginger tea. I want Zofran or something similar that was developed in a lab by really smart people for the sole purpose of making me not throw up. I want something tested in clinical trials and proven to make me not throw up. Period. I am sorry to say it (an here is where the asshole part of my "asshole opinion" come in) but there is a good reason that pharmaceutical companies are so wealthy and powerful, they make drugs that actually work. I don't agree with how they use their wealth and power a lot of the time but if I am sick I am going to take real medicine. Suck it hippies (ok, maybe that is a little too much)
